Encrypt the SIP with EtherSpeak Communications

EtherSpeak has the ability to provide encryption services for your internet connection. Beyond just a simple https, EtherSpeak offers full SIP encryption - meaning it's not just the end points that deal with coding and decoding.

Encryption is an option available for each of our SIP products:

  • SIP for Microsoft Lync or MS OCS R2 users
  • SureTrunk for ShoreTel users
  • SwitchTrunk for users of Asterisk based systems
  • ZipTrunk for users of the Zultys system

It is often assumed that the internet is a secure connection. But the fact of the matter is it is not as secure as the general public assumes. When dealing with sensitive voice and data transmissions over IP, businesses need to seriously consider encryption as a way to protect their own information and the data related to their customers.

EtherSpeak provides encryption over MPLS connections and regular broadband/internet connections. It does require extra bandwidth, but depending on your usage it is best to speak with one of our sales staff to figure out what is the best direction you should take.

EtherSpeak offers two methods of encryption:

1. TCP rather than UDP

2. TLS/SRTP - this is the required method for some Unified Communication systems such as MS Lync. For our SIP for Microsoft Lync product, this is the method for which we use -and have been certified for.

Industries which Require Encryption:

There are three main industries in which security is essential, and in fact is so important that there are Federal laws that require a certain degree of enacted security in regards to technology. These industries are Health, Financial/Banking, and Insurance.
